DYES

DYES

A fine powder with a full effect. Dyes don’t hold back in the world of make-up colour: typically they are the drivers behind those bold electric blues and fire engine reds that light up the room.
A dye is a coloring agent that comes in powder form, like a pigment, with the difference that it is easily soluble in water. The soluble nature of dyes means that the colour produced is lightweight and transparent.
Dyes are renowned for their bright hues – mineral pigments will be hard-pressed to achieve the same level of brightness and intensity we get from dyes.
However, the soluble nature of dyes means they will not add opacity. The colours may be bright, but they are thin and transparent. They need to be combined with pigments for long-lasting, solid colour.
