YSL Beauté combines an innovative working approach with a responsible supply model. It relies on the expertise of local communities to obtain authentic, natural ingredients such as the famous saffron pistils used in its Or Rouge range, which launched in 2014. YSL Beauté has developed a social program to promote the unique skills of local women and help them gain extra knowledge. Within the Ourika Community Gardens, YSL Beauté supported the creation of a cooperative of 32 women to care for each and every plant. A program was specially created to champion their artisanal knowledge and their community to help them acquire new skills and support their financial independence. In just three years, this unique community has doubled its revenue and promoted women’s empowerment in the region.
Yves Saint Laurent has always been about empowering women. Through these gardens, and the revenue the cooperative generates, the 32 women have been able to significantly improve their standard of living."
